I was looking to purchase my first suit for an upcoming occasion and went in to see the selection at Raggs. I went in without a good sense of what I wanted but was immediately impressed and overwhelmed by the selection that Raggs had. Tom helped me pick out a suit and had it tailored to fit my needs. He also helped me pick out shoes and a belt to go with the suit and made entire buying experience comfortable.
After my experience, I'd recommend Raggs to anyone looking for selection and service that is above the rest.
Tom, the owner and his staff are amazing. Been going here for well over 20 years; reasonable prices exceptional clothing include Tailoring. I cannot say enough about this place and highly recommended.

I went into Raggs yesterday on the recommendation of a friend of mine in order to purchase a blazer. It was my first time being in the store. I was immediately greeted and assisted by Paul. I knew very little about what I really wanted (let's just say I usually shop at less-fancy places). Paul was incredibly patient and worked with me to find a blazer that fit what I had in mind.
Once we had the blazer picked out, Tom came over and helped me choose a shirt to match. After going through about 10 shirts of varying styles, fabrics, and colors, I was able to find 4 that fit perfectly.
I want to comment on the last point. For those of you who are like me and don't usually shop at establishments like Raggs, it is amazing to FINALLY find clothing that's not from UnderArmor/Nike that fits a more athletic frame. This feeling is so well worth the extra money you'll be paying.
After my experience yesterday, I am completely sold on Tom, Paul, and Raggs. I will definitely be spending more money here.
Raggs has it all for the fashion conscious male. Whether you want to dress up, or dress down, the helpful staff has got you covered. I walked in wanting to get dressed well - and I walked out with a black Hugo Boss suit and a couple of shirts with matching ties. Service is top notch and Tom will give you advice on how to look good - instead of just trying to sell you designer stuff. It seems to me that every item in the store is carefully picked by someone that knows a thing or two about the latest men's fashion. You really can't go wrong by buying anything there. You could look super sharp for your next once-in-a-lifetime opportunity interview, or a hot date with a woman of your dreams (skinny ties anyone?) all from the same place!

But it was the service and attention to detail that made me buy.
Some great deals, exceptional service, and super fine clothes keep me coming back whenever I am in CT
I bought my first leather coat, which I still wear, from Tom back in 95. After leaving the state I made my way back about 2010 and have been shopping at Raggs ever since. Excellent costumer service and always a really great selection of casual and dress clothes including Hugo Boss, Theory, Sand and much more. It's never been a problem to order my size if it wasn't in stock. Will always prefer Raggs to buying online or going to bigger department stores like Bloomingdales....
I've always received the best personal service. They spend time and focus with all of their clients, yes that's right, clients. Patrons are treated like personalized clients.
Raggs continues to add unique clothing lines to the latest styles.
Since I don't live in town, we discuss my needs on the phone and they send me clothes to try. It doesn't get any better than that.

I first went to this store a year ago and Tom Maloney was attentive and sold me on a nice Hugo Boss briefcase which I get compliments on all the time.
A year later, the strap broke last Wednesday, on Thursday I contact Tom to see if there was anything he could do to help. He responded immediately and said he would look into it. Exactly one week later, I received in my office a brand new replacement strap for my briefcase directly from Hugo Boss.
I come all the way up to NYC to shop at Raggs.
Whenever I need exactly the right outfit for a special occasion, something casual for a fun night on the town, or I deserve a treat for myself I go to Raggs. The selection is unmatched in the New Haven area, with choices you will never find in a department store. The knowledgeable staff makes for a fun personalized shopping experience. I wouldn't dream of going anywhere else!
